HBO Casts Meryl Streep as Maria Callas
Award winning actress Meryl Streep is set to star in HBO's Master Class, as Maria Callas.
Streep will interpret the Greek-American opera legend in Terrence McNally's Tony-winning play, that has been transformed into a film. It is directed by Mike Nichols, who has collaborated with the actress in a plethora of movies.
Master Class is set in 1971 and centers around Callas' singing instruction at Manhattan's Juilliard School. In her extremely successful acting career, Streep has portrayed many greats, including Julia Child and Margaret Thatcher. Master Class is scheduled to begin production next January.
