Accidental archeological find in Anfplion

Workers participating in the process of revamping King Constantine Street a pedestrian walkway outside the courthouse of Nafplion were aghast when they accidentally unearthed the Venetian bastion walls, which date from the second period of the Venetian occupation of Nafplio.

They also revealed part of the network of the rainwater runoff system built and used by the Venetians during the period 1686-1715.

The findings will be recorded and mapped by archeologists before pedestrianization work continues.
