From head abnker to olive farmer

From governor of the Bank of Greece... to farmer on his native island of Kythira.

We are speaking of course about recently retired head banker Giorgos Provopoulos who has decided that cultivating olive trees is the thing to do.

As noted in To Vima newspaper, Giorgos Provopoulos is especially proud of the excellent quality of “agourelaio,” the oil pressed from olives that have not matured. As the newspaper notes the former head banker says: “I rest working, and I feel like a child.”

Ever since leaving his post Mr Provopoulos has secluded himself on Kythira tending his 350-tree olive grove.

But the former head of BoG also had something to say about the bank stress tests asying he felt “proud, satisfied, and vindicated.”
