"Are you in favor of the return of the Parthenon Marbles or not?" This question can be answered starting today, by passengers and visitors to Athens, via an application that appears on special interactive screens placed in the arrivals and departures halls of Athens International Airport.
Specifically, Greek and foreign passengers, by "piecing" with two moves the west metopes of the Parthenon and restoringthe sixth Caryatid to its natural space they can interactively express their opinion on the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece.
From the initial results of the vote, after the presentation of the application, 129 voted in favor of the return and 4 against.
Three screens exist at departures and one at the arrivals level of the airport.
"We believe that the airport as a crossroads of cultures, is an ideal place to properly reflect the views of Athens visitors on a broader issue concerning world cultural heritage," said Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communications and Marketing at the Athens airport.
"This initiative adds an important link in the systemic effects of the airport for our city, which is already achieving a particularly dynamic recovery as a tourist destination."
