Tsipras meeting Putin

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, who on Tuesday afternoon arrived in Moscow, and is now meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a meeting that began at around 13.30, Athens time.

Tsipras started his three-day official visit to Russia with the laying of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Kremlin Wall, at 10.00. After the meeting with President Putin, a series of agreements are expected to be signed.

These agreements include the Joint Action Plan for the next two years (which has not been updated since 2012), the declaration for the 70th Anniversary of Victory of Anti-Fascist War as well as the cooperation programme for the Greece-Russia Year 2016.

The Greek delegation, with the participation of Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, Minister of Productive Reconstruction, Environment and Energy Panagiotis Lafazanis, Alternate Economy Minister Nadia Valavani and government spokesman Gavriil Sakellaridis, on Thursday will meet with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Moscow Patriarch Kirill and the president of the State Duma (lower house) Sergey Naryshkin.

The spokesman of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted that among the issues that will certainly be raised during the bilateral talks is the lifting of the ban on import of agricultural products from Greece. In the afternoon the Greek delegation will meet members of the Greek Diaspora in Russia.
