The president of the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), Zhang Chun, will visit Athens on Monday, heading a delegation of senior company executives, for talks with Greece’s power utility PPC and the signing of the strategic partnership agreement in the country and the wider region.
Last month, the two companies signed an MoU to utilize local lignite mines and to construct Meliti II, a second power station for PPC in Meliti, Florina. The two sides completed negotiations on the MoU ahead of the meeting and will now focus on the construction of Melliti II.
In a separate announcement, PPC said today the company and its advisers are currently examining the documents provided by the two companies that submitted binding bids for the sale of a 24 percent stake in power grid operator ADMIE, China’s State Grid International Development Limited and Italy’s Terna Rete Elettrica Nazionale SpA in collaboration with F2i SGR SpA.
