Corinth Pipeworks undertakes project for Finnish-Estonia gas pipeline

The production of pipes for the submarine pipeline connecting Finland and Estonia was undertaken by Corinth Pipeworks.

Cenergy Holdings SA announced that on 4 January 2018, Baltic Connector and Elering signed an agreement with the Corinth Pipeworks to produce and supply steel pipes for the underwater pipeline linking Finland and Estonia.

The agreement, which includes steel pipes for the 77 km long pipeline from Finland to Estonia, is one of the largest projects.

The pipelines for the construction of the underwater pipeline will be produced at the Corinth Pipeworks in Greece in 2018, and according to the timetable, pipeline construction will start in 2019.

Baltic Connector Oy is a state-owned company set up in 2015 to implement the Finnish part of the Balticconnector gas pipeline to be built between Finland and Estonia.

Upon completion, the Balticconnector pipeline will connect the Finnish and Baltic gas networks and allow the opening of the gas market in Finland.

The project has been funded by the EU to the tune of 75% and is expected to be completed by 2020.
