SmartWings, a low-cost carrier and brand of Czech airline Travel Service, has launched a new seasonal connection from Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic, to the Greek island of Paros in the Cyclades.
The direct charter flights will run with a frequency every 11 days (Tuesday or Friday), with the next itinerary scheduled for June 19. The Prague-Paros route will be served by a Boeing 737 with a capacity for 120 passengers. It will distribute tourists from four Czech travel agencies to the islands of Paros and Naxos.
The first Smartwings flight from Prague landed at Paros Airport on Friday, carrying 88 passengers.
“The direct connection between Prague and Paros will further boost tourism and entrepreneurship on our island,” Paros Mayor Markos Kovayos said during a special ceremony to welcome the new SmartWings connection.
“We will continue meetings and contacts with travel agents and airline representatives in order to draw up a draft proposal that will lead to the development of new routes from Greece and abroad and will contribute to the sustainable development of our country,” he said.
