Eleftherios Venizelos continues to burn in Piraeus for third day

The fire has been limited, and smoke is considerably less than in the previous days. On the ship there was a fire in the third garage, while it was headed at night for Chania near the island of Agios Georgios. The ship returned directly to the port of Piraeus and disembarked 875 passengers and most of the crew.

It is noted that the ship was transporting 80 trucks and 152 vehicles.

Firefighters who continue the firefighting work have access, by yesterday, to many places that were not accessible. Until now, a large number of large vehicles have been dragged out, some of which have been seriously damaged.

The procedure followed, according to ANEK executives, is to prepare a report on the safety of the ship and the vehicles, and the damage suffered by the vehicles, followed by aconsultation with the company for the compensation procedure.

The "Eleftherios Venizelos" was visited yesterday by the Minister of Shipping Fotis Kouvelis who was informed of the fire extinguishing activity by fire brigade officials.
