More than 126,000 accommodations were leased for the short-term by the end of June 2018 through various platforms, with Attica holding the lion's share.

A study titled "Developments in short-term rental of real estate in Greece", included in the latest quarterly edition of the Center for Planning and Economic Research (KEPE) "Economic Developments" presents the data of the international AirDNA database, which records the short-term lease of real estate through Airbnb, the largest of the international short-term leasing platforms.

As stated in the report, Attica, South Aegean and Crete appear to have the largest number of short-term accommodation throughout the period as they accrue more than 60% of the total number of lodgings (from 76.5% in 2012 to 61.6% in 2018).

There are three more Regions, Central Macedonia, the Ionian Islands and the Peloponnese, where the total number of accommodation ranged from 13.9% of the total in 2011 to 26.3% in 2018.

Finally, in the first half of 2018, over 5,000 short-term accommodations (ranging from 6,474 in the Peloponnese to 30,184 in Attica) were located in each of the six aforementioned Regions, accounting for 87.9% of the corresponding activity.

The participation of the other seven Regions is considerably lower, as the number of short-term rental domiciles that operated there at the end of the first half of 2018 amounted to 12.1% of the total, while the corresponding accommodation ranged from 196 in West Macedonia to 3,880 in Thessaly.

Attica has the most
