The Migrant Integration Centre (KEM) of the City of Athens on Monday presented certificates of competence in Greek language and computer technology to the first 60 adults to complete the educational program.

The graduates received diplomas in Greek language proficiency and the IT students were licensed to use Testware (www.testware.gr), a certified software for exam preparation in computer skills.

"Social cohesion and harmonious coexistence in the city are the municipality's priority since the beginning of the refugee crisis," stressed Athens Mayor Giorgos Broulias, and added that "in this context, knowledge of language is a prerequisite for refugees to have access to the labor market and to live with self-sufficiency as residents of their city."

"Their success is due to their commitment to education and training, but also to the contribution of teachers and society at large, to enable mutual coexistence and mutual understanding," said Deputy Mayor for Migrants and Refugees, Lefteris Papayannakis.

KEM said that interested individuals, whether beginners or advanced learners, may apply for Greek- and English-language courses and computer lessons at the Centre at Maizonos 45 & Psaron Str., in central Athens, Monday-Friday 9 am to 1 pm.
