Earthquake measuring 4.8 on Richter scale shakes Crete
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale was recorded at 05:05 on Thursday on eastern Crete.
According to the Athens Geodynamics Institute, the tremor's epicentre is located in the sea region 12 kilometers southeast of Zakros.
The seismic activity that begun off Crete on 26 November has worried seismologists who fear that what is being experienced is a movement in fault lines. Almost all of the quakes have an origin at great depths below the surface.
