Surprise military drills to "recapture" island
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A surprise exercise in the Aegean took place in the early hours, at the behest of Chief of the General Staff of National Defense, General Christos Christodoulou.
The scenario of the military exercise envisaged the activation of the "steel punch" of the Armed Forces, also known as the "Delta Force", with the aim of recapturing an island.
The drills were held on a small island in the central Aegean, with frigates, missiles, Apache helicopters, F-16 fighter jets, Chinook helicopters and more. It is worth noting that the Delta Force is an interbrach force made up of various units, such as the Amphibious Commandos, the Special Forces Paratroopers Unit, the Underwater Demolition Unit, the Search and Rescue Squadron.
