Greece helps repatriate Russian, Greek nationals through chartered flight

Nearly 150 Greek citizens who were stranded after coronavirus measures grounded flights are being repatriated on a chartered Aegean Airlines flight that left Sheremetyevo Airport on Monday.
The return of 143 Greeks was a Greek initiative, the embassy in Moscow said, in collaboration with three general consulates of Greece in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk.
The Aegean airplane arrived in Moscow with 84 Russian citizens stranded in Greece, who were transported back to their country courtesy and in solidarity of the Greek government to Russia.
Russia's embassy in Athens termed the gesture an example of practical solidarity between countries during the Covid-19 pandemic. It noted that among the 84 Russian nationals, six were children, two of which had a disability.
It also expressed its appreciation to Greek businessman Boris Mouzenidis, who provided a bus to transport 34 Russians from northern Greece to the Athens International Airport.
