Athens demands: "Turkey should stop inflammatory rhetoric arson"
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Deputy Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis sent a message to Turkey to abandon the rhetoric of tension and to refrain from actions that do not help in de-escalation, in an interview given earlier today to ERT1. On the occasion of the new Turkish Navtex, Mr. Varvitsiotis stressed that "Turkey should not behave like an unpredictable neighbor.
"If it wants to get closer to Europe, it must abandon the rhetoric of tension and refrain from actions that do not help de-escalate and good neighborly relations." Finally, the Deputy Minister recalled at the same time the conclusions of the last European Council, which refer to the need for continuous de-escalation and the avoidance of unilateral actions on the part of Turkey.
