Friday is International Anti-racism Day, celebrated around the world and Athens couldn't be an exception. The Justice ministry's Human Rights department is organizing an event at the Acropolis, with the participation of 2,500 children.
The children of all nationalities, including some with disabilities, will be holding hands around the ancient site, singing and releasing around 2000 balloons in the air. This way, they will be sending the message of “a peaceful and creative co-existence between people with no distinctions”.
The message of the event will be “We embrace Acropolis, we embrace humanity”.
At around 12am, after the main event, there will be a show with well known Greek singers, including Antonis Remos, Melina Kana, Melina Aslanidou and Sonia Theodoridou. There will also be other artistic events from children of the Paladion primary school. The event will be attended by President of the Republic, Karolos Papoulias and ministers of Justice, Charalambos Athanasiou and Education, Konstandinos Arvanitopoulos.
