Civil Aviation Authority Releases Encouraging Statistics!

Promising statistics were recently revealed by Greece's Civil Aviation Authority, regarding international air travel to the nation.

In 2014's first two months, a 16.9% increase was determined. It soared from 515,379 to 602,222 compared to last year.

The majority of travelers flew to Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH), which is the 27th busiest airport in Europe. In February, arrivals expanded by 19.3%.
Marketing Greece Chairman Andreas Andreadis claimed there is a strategy underway to bring additional visitors to the nation, in order to increase yearly arrivals to 22-24 million, generating on average 800 euros worth of expenditure per guest, resulting in a total of 33 billion euros in direct revenues.

Established in 2013, Marketing Greece is a financially independent and innovative nonprofit organization that serves as the official ambassador of the Greek Tourism Industry. Andreadis claimed, "If these goals are achieved, tourism will contribute 20% of Greece's gross domestic product...We are extremely pleased with the interest the global market is showing in Greek destinations and developments occurring in the country's tourism sector". The nonprofit organization focuses on boosting tourism in six genres: health and wellness, sun and sea, city breaks, conference, nautical, and cultural tourism.

This year, package holiday bookings to Greece are notably prominent with Central Europeans. German travel agencies and tour guides have reported up to a yearly 52% increase, in booked travel for the 2014 summer season. Island destination packages have been particularly lucrative.
