Troika Halts Talks

Troika representatives have temporary halted their talks with Greek officials, saying the negotiations on the next amount to be released for the bailout package are set to resume soon.
"A mission from the European Commission (EC), European Central Bank (ECB), and International Monetary Fund (IMF) that has been reviewing the government's economic programme has made good progress. To allow completion of technical work, policy discussions in Athens will pause, and are expected to resume in the coming weeks. In the meantime, contacts will continue between staff and the Greek authorities," stated the laconic announcement
The statement was issued on Sunday, following four hours of talks with Greek Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras, who after the meeting said, "The negotiations will continue."
On Saturday, the representatives met Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.
The talks will decide about the continuation of financial aid and a 1 billion euro ($1.35 billion) installment to be paid to Greece in October.
