Greece Unfriendly to the Elderly

On the occasion of International Day of Older Persons, the Global Age Watch index shows Greece to be 58th out of 90 countries rated on how well their ageing populations are faring.
In terms of the four partial indicators Greece ranks 25th in income security, 47th in health status, 61st in employment and education, and 82nd in overall “enabling environment.”
These stats rate Greece below Albania (39th) and Cyprus (57th), as well as all European countries except for Poland (62nd). Other countries Greece rates worse than are Uruguay, Sri lanka, Ecuador, Tadzhikistan.
As far as the best countries for those over 60, Sweden tops the list, while the USA ranks 8th. Canada rates 5th. Afghanistan is at the bottom of the list.
