A 56-year-old border guard who was injured - on Saturday afternoon- by fire from the Turkish side while on patrol in a remote area of Soufli, is being treated in a stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Didymoteicho General Hospital.

Today is a historic day for the European Union, EU Commissioner for Migration and Home Affairs Dimitris Avramopoulos on Thursday said adding that the new European Border Guard and Coast Guard is a symbol for the EU.
