Citizen Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos on Monday contacted the Chief of Police, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Skoumas, and the head of Greece's cybercrime unit Vassilis Papacostas, demanding that they find and take legal action against a man shown mistreating a kitten in a video on the internet.

Michalis Chrysochoidis confirmed that a police officer who has been seconded to SYRIZA prevented the arrest of a protester during yesterday's incidents.

In statements after his meeting with Evros regional government officials on Wednesday, Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis clarified that his presence in the northeastern Greek city of Alexandropoulis "is not news" but simply implemented the government's plans.
