An emergency interministerial meeting was being held on Monday at the Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry, chaired by Minister Vassilis Kikilias, on the situation created by the major wildifires and the extreme fire risk that is forecast for Tuesday.

The public should limit their activities outside of homes and always carry snow chains in their cars on national highways, Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chryssohoidis said on Thursday, following a meeting at Civil Protection headquarters on Kifissias Avenue ahead of heavy snow expected this weekend.

Now that the lockdown measures are cautiously and gradually being rolled back, "we are all responsible for our behavior in public, because we will be leaving home more often," Civil Protection Deputy Minister for Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias said on Wednesday.
