The informal EU defense ministers' council accepted Greece's proposal to manage the European operation 'Shields' in the Red Sea from the Hellenic EU Operations Headquarters in Larissa, central Greece, National Defense Minister Nikos Dendias said on Wednesday.

The National Defense Ministers of Greece, Italy, France, and Cyprus met on the sidelines of the Council of the European Union's Foreign Relations/Defense meeting on Tuesday and discussed coordination and collaboration before security threats in the East Meditterranean region.

The Defense Ministers of Greece Nikos Panagiotopoulos, of Cyprus Charalambos Petrides and of Egypt Mohamed Zaki held their 5th Trilateral Meeting in Cairo on Monday.
