US President Donald Trump made reference to the common values that bound Greece and the US during his address on occasion of celebrations in honour of Greek Independence Day (March 25) (revelution against the Ottoman Empire in 1821) at the annual formal reception held at the White House.

Το «άνοιγμα» 72ης Γενικής Συνέλευσης του Οργανισμού Ηνωμένων Εθνών (Ο.Η.Ε.) πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 19/09/2017 στη Νέα Υόρκη, από τον Γενικό Γραμματέα του Ο.Η.Ε., António Guterres, ο οποίος παρουσίασε το έργο του οργανισμού κατά τους πρώτους μήνες της θητείας του και τους τελευταίους μήνες της θητείας του προκατόχου του, Ban Ki-moon. Στη συνέχεια, το λόγο πήραν ο Πρόεδρος της 72ης Γενικής Συνέλευσης του Ο.Η.Ε., Miroslav Lajchak, ο Πρόεδρος της Βραζιλίας, Michel Temer και ο Πρόεδρος των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών Αμερικής, Donald Trump, καθώς και άλλοι αρχηγοί κρατών και κυβερνήσεων.

Greece’s Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras congratulated Donald Trump and referred to “the traditional ties of friendship between the Greek and American people based on common principles of democracy, rule of law and respect for human rights.”
