Tourism industry a massive boost to job market in Greece

According to data released by the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE), the number of people employed in the tourism industry had reached record heights, even surpassing the pre-crisis levels. In 2016 and aggregate of 341.2 thousand are employed in tourism related jobs, with the industry accounting for 9.3% of the total workforce compared to 3.9% in 1983 and 7% in 2008.

1.2% rise in Greek job growth

The number of persons employed increased by 0.3% in the euro area and by 0.2% in the EU28 in the second quarter of 2015 compared with the previous quarter, according to national accounts estimates published by Eurostat, the EU statistical body.

Greek Part-Time Work Continues To Rise

The full-time employment rate in Greece has been reduced by approximately 500,000 individuals within the last five years, however the amount of part-time job holders has nearly doubled, according to a General Confederation of Greek Labor (GSEE) study.
