A protest rally by Greek farmers throughout the country is planned in central Athens on Tuesday afternoon, taking place at Vathy Square at 13:30.

Protesting farmers and cattle farmers decided on Wednesday to close the Evzoni border crossing between Greece and FYROM until at least February 3, following a meeting of the coordinating committee of Central Macedonia. 

Farmers throughout the country took to the roads with their tractors on Wednesday and made preparations to escalate protest action in the coming days. Among others, farmers are demanding that the government roll back new measures increasing their taxes and social insurance contributions.
