The government is determined to proceed with its decision for the construction of closed type hosting facilities for refugees and migrants and this is to the benefit of the islands inhabitants, Alternate Migration Minister Giorgos Koumoutsakos said on Wednesday in an interview with radio station Praktoreio 104.9 FM.
Alternate Minister of Migration and Asylum Giorgos Koumoutsakos, on Friday presented Greece's initiative for tackling networks of refugee traffickers at the Informal Meeting of Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs, held in Zagreb on January 23-24.
Deputy Citizen Protection Minister George Koumoutsakos participated on Thursday in a seminar on "Eastern Mediterranean. The Importance of Pillars of Stability in a Sea of Instability" organised by the Hellenic American Institute in Athens. The event was attended by U.S. Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt, International Relations Professor Konstantinos Filis, and Doug Bandow, a member of the U.S. CATO Institute.
