Riots broke out last night at the Lesvos refugee-immigration reception and identification centre in Moria.

The government's efforts to improve conditions at the refugee and migrant camps on the islands were "long overdue," Migration Policy Minister Yiannis Mouzalas admitted in statements to the press on Wednesday.

The tents at the northern and western side of the refugee camp in Moria were taken down and tons of piling garbage was removed to make way for new shelter units,  a few hours after the fifth death was recorded by authorities in the center.
