George Papandreou's creation of the Movement of Democratic Socialists and his PASOK discontinuation, has also upset the Greek-Australian PASOK community.
Greek government Vice President, Foreign Minister and PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos voiced the requirement for a discussion by all political parties to come to a "national consensus", following an agenda meeting with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, according to ANA-MPA.
In a speech at an event on Wednesday night in Athens marking the 40th anniversary of the founding of PASOK, both the party’s leader Evangelos Venizelos and former Socialist Prime Minister Kostas Simitis appealed to party patriotism to revive the PASOK Party.
