As stated by the General Secretary of Hellenes Abroad and Public Diplomacy, Giannis Chrysoulakis: "the student competition Hack the Map invites high school and lyceum students to approach with a creative look important historical evidence through the possibilities offered by new technologies. We consider it important that the Competition is the trigger for them to enter the process of conducting historical research, to get in touch with primary sources and archives and to get to know the history of Greek cities and the myths and stories that accompany them.

At the same time, the Competition aims to enhance and expand students' digital skills and make them active and critical users of technology. At the General Secretariat of Hellenes Abroad and Public Diplomacy we support the initiatives that promote the Greek language and culture, as well as the initiatives that preserve the Memory as a legacy, but also as an interpretive tool that illuminates the path of the Present and the Future. "This initiative, which is aimed at Greek schools in Greece and abroad, motivates students to engage in a process through which they will be more connected to their place of origin, developing a range of skills."
