Greeks Abroad Deputy FM Offers Spyropoulos Condolences

Deputy Foreign Minister for Greeks Abroad Kyriakos Gerontopoulos offered the condolence message below, to leading Greek-American Ted Spyropoulos' family over his recent passing.

Gerontopoulos stated:

"I was grieved to learn of the death of Theodore Spyropoulos, the Vice Chairman of the American Hellenic Institute (AHI) and U.S. Regional Coordinator for the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE).

A characteristic example of the self-made, successful entrepreneur and a fervent patriot, benefactor; a man with a vision for the future of the homeland and Hellenism abroad. He dedicated his life to defending our national issues, to promoting Greek-language education, to promoting Greek culture, and to the effective organization of Greeks abroad, through a series of projects like the Ted and Erika Spyropoulos Foundation, and through a number of activities and initiatives, including "Plant Your Roots in Greece."

His loss leaves a void that will be difficult to fill among Hellenes abroad, whom he served selflessly, with vision and dedication, throughout his life.

To his wife and supporter in all his endeavors, Erika, and to his daughter Mariyana, I express my sincere and profound condolences", according to the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
