Greek Groom Marries Bride On NYC’s N Train

Two New Yorkers, Hector Irakliotis, 26, and Tatyana Sandler, 25, tied the knot on the N train, while it traveled across the Manhattan Bridge from Brooklyn.

The ceremony took place on Friday and was witnessed by many stunned passengers. Irakliotis described their wedding destination to the New York Daily News, "We've been through a lot. Good times, bad times, and a lot of the good times have taken place on the train."

The couple selected the N train because they rode it many times during their romance. The Greek-American groom added, "Confessions of love, reconciliations, goofy, ridiculous conversations - the whole spectrum. In New York, you spend so much time on the train, we thought why not?"

Irakliotis who is a game designer, hopped on the train at the Kings Highway station at approximately 3:30 p.m. along with his groomsmen, and proceeded to adorn the train's seats and railings with white ribbon.

Wearing a bow tie and a black suit, the Hellenic soon-to-be-husband declared to riders, "Everyone, hi. I have an announcement to make. I am going to be getting married in 20 minutes." His bride entered the train at 36th Street with her maid of honor. The two were married as planned, in view of the Manhattan Bridge.

Sandler stated, "I'm originally from Ukraine, and each time we'd come back here, I'd say to Hector, 'It doesn't feel like home until I see the skyline as we're crossing the bridge.' And he remembered that." After the matrimony, the happy couple hopped off the train at Canal Street in Manhattan and went to a bar to celebrate.
