Netflix Chief Ted Sarandos Receives Gotham Award

Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos received a Career Tribute Award at the Gotham Independent Film Awards.

This year marks the 24th annual event and was held at Cipriani Wall Street. The Award honors a seasoned professional who has concretely affected the motion picture sector.

As stated on the Gotham Independent Film Awards website of the event, "...selected by distinguished juries and presented in New York City, the home of independent film, are the first honors of the film awards season. This public showcase honors the filmmaking community, expands the audience for independent films, and supports the work that IFP does behind the scenes throughout the year to bring such films to fruition."

Sarandos has been termed a "Greek Titan" by Time Magazine, who placed him on their list of "100 Most Influential People in the World", that includes entrepreneurs, athletes, artists and innovators. An acclaimed movie industry guru, 2014 marks his fourteenth year as the leader in content acquisition for Netflix. He also serves as Consultant of the Digital Entertainment Group and is a member of the Los Angeles Film Festival and Tribeca Film Festival boards.
