Melbourne Plans Greek-Australian Women's Panel

Australia's "Food for Thought" network plans to feature six leading Greek-Australian women to address "Girls and Education" next month, to celebrate International Women's Day.

Ambassador Eva Dafaranos, Minister Jenny Mikakos, Dr. Ann Mitsis, and professors Georgina Tsolidis and Joy Damousi, are set to speak on the panel about their own experiences and will offer advice to their Greek-Australian female audience. The event will be moderated by Alphington Grammar principal Vivianne Nikou, who will prompt queries on the featured females' career challenges, according to Greek-Australian news portal Neos Kosmos.

The participating Greek-Australian women are leaders in their fields. Minister Jenny Mikakos is the first Greek-Australian female Minister in Victoria's governmental system, while the event's youngest speaker, Maree Skalistis, will discuss her work at The Hague International Model United Nations Conference, where she serves as the Victorian representative.

The "Girls and Education" event takes place March 8th, at the Greek Centre of Contemporary Culture, located on 178 Lonsdale Street in Melbourne. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. for two hours. Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased at: www.trybooking.com/Booking/BookingEventSummary.aspx?eid=120061.
