Medical Fundraising Initiative Launched for Greek-Australian Teen

Greek-Australian teenager Emily Karakatsanis has been diagnosed with Behcet's Disease, Hyper Eosinophilia, and Mast Cell Activation.

A fundraising initiative has been set up for the 15-year-old girl's medical expenses, as her family has traveled to the United States and England with her, to receive the best medical care offered. However, the international medical quest has left the Karakatsanis family with outstanding medical debts, both in Australia and abroad.

Family friend Liz Hondrakis stated to Greek-Australian news portal Neos Kosmos, "She suffers with exhaustion, mouth ulcers, colon ulcers, severe joint pain, breathlessness, dizziness, low blood pressure and migraines with aura."

Hondrakis added, "I have witnessed their struggles, determination and their will to stop at nothing - to give the best possible care to their daughter. I would like to do the same."

A fundraising dinner dance has been scheduled on Saturday, June 27th, to assist Emily's medical care. The event will take place at the Oakleigh Grammar School and includes a four course dinner, live entertainment and silent and live auctions.

Hondrakis confirmed that 100% of the proceeds will be dedicated to Emily's medical care coverage. Tickets are prices at $69 dollar per person.
