Mr. Coufos is a well known name in the community of St. Demetrios of Jamaica. His family has been extremely charitable in their contributions to the church. Mr. Coufos himself was president of the Parish Council decades ago, at a time when the community was at its peak in membership, and when the day school was overflowing with students. This expansion was especially seen when the community opened up a Greek Orthodox high school named after his Former Eminence Archbishop Iakovos in the 1980s.

Mr. Coufos has made a comeback to the community in recent years and was elected President of the Parish Council last election. Many parishioners favorably welcomed his return, as he was not only a familiar name and face, but also due to his successful achievements in serving his community in the past.

Mr. Coufos will be laid for viewing on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 between the hours of 2-4 p.m., and then 6-9 p.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Jamaica, NY. The funeral service will be held at the same church on Thursday morning at 11 a.m.
