Former Senate Leader Dean Skelos convicted of corruption

The Manhattan Federal Court found Dean and Adam Skelos guilty of "heavy" charges threatening them with severe penalties.

Dean G. Skelos, once one of the most powerful figures in New York State politics, was found guilty of bribery, extortion and conspiracy on Tuesday, the latest in corruption convictions to roil Albany in a heated election year.

These charges of bribery, economic fraud and blackmail, were in direct connection with the political position held by Skelos (head of the State Senate of New York), which he allegedly exploited for the benefit of himself and his son, Adam.

In particular, Dean Skelos allegedly pressured affluent entrepreneurs to pay Adam $ 300,000 for work he was not present at.

The verdict was given on Tuesday by the jury after 4 days of deliberations
