A 37-year-old man was sentenced to life in proson, on Friday, for the murder of a Greek American family and their home assistant in their home in Washington in 2015.

Daron Wint was found guilty last October for the murder of businessman Savas Savopoulos, 46, his wife Amy, 47, their 10-year-old son Philip and their home assistant, Teralisa Figueroa, 57.

Judge Juliet McKenna described his act as "inhumane, hideous," and "inconceivable" and imposed on him the penalty of life imprisonment.

According to the indictment, Wind entered the house of the affluent family on 13 May 2015 and held four of his victims. For 15 hours, he tortured them, hitting them mainly with a baseball bat, sdo the businessmanwould give him $ 40,000.

A Savopoulos employee took the money to the home, assuring that he had received this order from the businessman.

Daron Wint then killed the hostages and burned the house to cover his traces. The police very quickly discovered his tracks, mainly thanks to the DNA he had left on a piece of pizza at the scene of the crime.

Wint was born in Guyana and arrived in the USA with his family in 2000. For some time he had worked as a welder in the business that Savopoulos maintained. During his trial he blamed his two brothers for the crime. He admitted to being at the home, but claimed he did not know what was going on.

The investigating authorities initially believed that the perpetrators of the crime were many, but ultimately they only prosecuted Duron Wind.
