Greek national holiday celebrated in Damascus, Syria

In Damascus, Syrians and expat Greeks celebrated the “OXI Day” Greek national holiday. In more detail, with the blessing and presence of His Beatitude Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, Ioannis, the Greek Community in Damascus celebrated the National Greece’s entry into WW II, which coincides with this year’s 100th anniversary since the founding of the Greek expat Community.
The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ms. RIMA QADIRI, President of the Community Mr HABIB SALOUMI, Mrs. AMIRA STEPHANOU, Consuls Mr GEORGE QATINI, Mr AYOUB HANNA, Mr HAZEM DANIEL, members of the Community and many other residents of Damascus.
After Doxology, His Beatitude addressed the church, speaking of the strong and historic relations between the two states, Syria and Greece, as well as the Patriarchate of Antioch with the Church of Greece.
