Featured Sudan: "We thought we were going to die" say Alexandra and Katerina Kalimeri who escaped to Greece

Sisters Alexandra and Katerina Kalimeri, who escaped the hell of the civil war in Sudan and arrived safely in Greece, vividly described the terrifying moments they experienced in Sudan.

The two sisters spoke to SKAI channel and told how they were trapped for days in the orthodox church of Khartoum, while they also talked about the efforts they made with the help of Sudanese to find an escape route to Greece.

"That day we had gone out in the morning, we had gone to the church and we got trapped there. We are alive by a miracle, we can't believe it. God has given us new life. Our parents are satisfied that we came to Greece and are safe. Soldiers would stop us on our way pointing guns at our heads, they would ask us where we were going. We prayed the whole time until we reached the house of the person who helped us," said Alexandra Kalimeri.

"I wish our parents would come to Greece too, it's very dangerous there. When we arrived in Greece, I felt that I was breathing again", emphasized Katerina Kalimeri for her part. Alexandra and Katerina Kalimeri arrived in Greece early on Saturday, while their parents remain stranded in Sudan.
