Exclusive Interview with Anthoula Katsimatides

She serves as the liaison for relatives that lost family members in the horrific 2001 and February 26, 1993 terrorist attacks. The Greek-American's brother John Katsimatides was killed at the World Trade Center.

Katsimatides is the former Assistant Vice President for Family Relations at the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation. Since 2000, she has been appointed as the Assistant for Community Affairs for New York State and serves the City's ethnic communities. She has held many prestigious posts, that include serving as the 2004 Athens Summer Games' Greek liaison to U.S. participants, staff and dignataries.

The successful Greek-American is the President of The Johnny and Mike Katsimatides Foundation for Life, Inc. The organization is a family foundation, established in honor of her two brothers, whose goal is to generate philanthropic funds in their honor. Currently, Katsimatides is pursuing an acting career.

New Greek TV: How was the experience at the ceremony? How did you feel? What do you think about the Museum ?

Anthoula Katsimatides: My experience was one of sentimentality and hope. I've been working on this museum for close to 10 years now serving on the board of directors on the national September 11 memorial and museum. I felt like quite an accomplishment. The reason I love the art museum is because it balances the tragedy and horror of that day with the unity and humanity that came in the aftermath of September 11th. Plus when I am long gone, it is the official keeper of my brother John's memory. And for that I will always be grateful.

New Greek TV: Can you tell me about your trip to Nisyros, for the elections?

Anthoula Katsimatides: I am going to vote because I sincerely love and care about Nisyros. I have been traveling there for a long time. We own property on the island. But beyond that, I truly feel like I am a true Nisyria because both of my parents were born there and because I feel such an attachment. It feels like my second home. And I really would like to have a say in the politics of the island.
