The expertise, which the IRS has already developed for the control of transactions in cryptocurrencies and digital assets, is sought to be utilized by Greece's Independent Public Revenue Authority-AADE. During a meeting, at the IRS offices, in Washington, the Director of the AADE, Giorgos Pitsilis, and the Acting Commissioner of the IRS, Douglas O'Donnell, discussed the prospect of cooperation between the two services in this field.

Real estate and income taxes totaling more than 74 million per year are paid in Greece by more than 141,000 natural persons who reside in the USA and have a Greek tax number, as stated by Giorgos Pitsilis, who participated in the panel entitled, "Updating the Diaspora on Greece's Taxation & Customs System", as part of the Capital Link – Invest in Greece Forum held in New York.

The High Authority on Public Revenue (AADE) fell hard during the Pentecost three day weekend, placing padlocks on companies that evaded taxation on islands and on mainland Greece.
