Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis told CNN on Monday said that the success of containing the Covid-19 pandemic in Greece so far and this recognition internationally was a sentiment shared by the public, noting that Greeks "haven't felt this proud in a long time." 

“What we did that I think was successful was to implement strict social distancing measures relatively early and this seems to have worked,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in an interview with CNN.

“We almost have full cooperation by the Greek people and I would like to thank them for the fact that respected our directions and actually stayed home with a very very few exceptions,” he stressed adding that “the hard work is still ahead of us.”

A landmark agreement signed between Turkey and the European Union in 2016 to curb irregular migration into the bloc via Greece has collapsed because of Ankara's tactics, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis told CNN in an interview late on Friday.
