The Hellenic Initiative’s 12th Annual New York Gala to Honor Marianne and Dean Metropoulos

The Hellenic Initiative (THI), the largest global non-profit uniting the Greek Diaspora – with supporters in over 47 countries – will host its 12th Annual New York Gala on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Cipriani 55 Wall Street in New York City.  

Funds raised support THI’s vetted humanitarian partners and economic/entrepreneurial development in Greece. Prior to the event, THI’s hotly anticipated annual online auction will go live showcasing luxury items from renowned Greek designers. A bidding website is under development and will be available soon.

This year’s event will honor noted philanthropists Marianne and Dean Metropoulos. The Gala will celebrate their contributions to supporting the people of Greece and recognize their philanthropy worldwide. (Please see full biographies listed below.)

Themed “Dare to Dream,” the black-tie evening will open with cocktails and auction item viewing

at 6:30 p.m.  Dinner and awards will begin at 8:00 p.m. and dancing will kick off at 10:00 p.m. The event will feature a special performance by Greek singer Thanos Petrelis and dancing by the Jimmy Vali Band.

Special guests include Antonios Tsapatakis, 2024 Paralympian Silver Medalist in Swimming – 100m breaststroke and Alexandra Stamatopoulou, 2024 Paralympian Gold Medalist in Swimming – 50m backstroke.

More than 800 invitees, benefactors, and dignitaries are anticipated at this important annual celebration of community, heritage, and culture, which unites the Greek diaspora in a meaningful manner.

TICKETS: Individual $800, THI New Leader (45 years old or younger) $400. Table prices start at $15,000.

THI’s 10th Annual Gala in New York City raises over 2 million for Support to Greece

THI 2022The Hellenic Initiative welcomed over 800 guests at their 10th Annual sold-out Gala, which took place at the iconic venue of Cipriani Wall Street on December 3rd, 2022. The evening drew dignitaries, prominent Greek Americans, and Philhellenes to support the not-for-profit organization offering donations to Greece through various initiatives. The President, George Stamas, and Chairman, Andrew Liveris, spoke to the guests about the Greeks helping Greece, and The Hellenic Initiative’s past decade of service and milestones reached by the philanthropic organization with the slogan “Olli Mazi”. They also featured the Plant a Tree in Greece” campaign to help restore and reforest the areas ravaged by the wildfires in 2021.

The Hellenic Initiative honored Dr. Albert Bourla, CEO and Chairman of Pfizer, for overseeing the development of the world’s first COVID-19 vaccines. Master of Ceremonies 20th Century Fox’s CEO Jim Gianopoulos, spoke about the resilience of Greece and the Greeks. The famous Greek singer, Ellie Kokkinou, performed her top hits and had all guests dancing all night. THI raised over 2.5 million and will deploy the funds to Greek humanitarian programs to promote and support Greek economic and entrepreneurial development.

The Hellenic Initiative’s Venture Fair initiative is in its third year and gives the opportunity for Greeks startups to pitch their proof of concept to a variety of international investors that the organization draws in to promote investing in Greece. The organization also supports regenerate Greece and Odyssey, job seekers.

The Hellenic Initiative’s Annual Gala Is Back!

The Hellenic Initiative (THI) raised a spectacular USD $2 million+ at its Ninth Annual Fundraising Gala that took place on Saturday, December 4, 2021. THI is the leading nonprofit uniting the Greek diaspora and philhellenes internationally and raises awareness and capital for Greece. Held at Cipriani Wall Street, the Gala was back in person and streamed online to an international audience after last year’s virtual-only event.
