Greek police are stepping up security measures in Thessaloniki with increased policing patrols and traffic regulations, ahead of the trilateral summit meeting between Greece, Cyprus and Israel which will he held on Thursday. 

The 36th Book Festival of Thessaloniki opened on Saturday in the presence of Alternate Environment Minister Sokratis Famellos and Alternate Education Minister Kostas Zouraris, former ministers, MPs, Central Macedonia regional governor Apostolos Tzitzikostas and other officials.

The number of overnight stays at Thessaloniki hotels increased by 5.56 percent in 2016 to 2,309,617 against 2,187,932 the year before, according to data released this week by the Thessaloniki Hotels Association (THA).
