Yesterday's Arrest of 3 NYC Teachers

Yesterday, three New York City high school instructors were arrested on separate charges.

Queens teacher Monsur Khan, 33, is being accused of an online romantic relationship with an underage girl, who is not a current student of his. His charges include attempted aggravated sexual abuse, attempted rape, attempted disseminating indecent material to a minor and resisting arrest. It has not been determined if the girl attended the high school where he taught. Their online dalliances began last month. The Department of Education confirmed that Khan has been reassigned to another school.

Brooklyn Leon M. Goldstein High School for the Sciences teacher Vilma Latalladi, 53, was arrested for carrying an air rifle and toy gun to campus. Her charges include prohibited use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds. Bronx DeWitt Clinton High School teacher Jack Israel, 55, was accused after pushing a school safety officer, who was trying to break up a student rift. He has been charged with resisting arrest, assault, obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct and harassment.
