Lyon Opera Ballet Director Loukos Holds NY Discussion

Lyon Opera Ballet Director Yorgos Loukos will offer a discussion, moderated by Jennifer Homans, on Tuesday, May 6th, at 7:00 p.m.

The event is co-presented by BAM and the Onassis Cultural Center, in conjunction with the Lyon Opera Ballet. The acclaimed Greek-born director, who moved to France after high school, will discuss contemporary and classical ballet.  He will offer an intimate account of his career with the Lyon dance company.

Since 2006, Loukos has reigned as the president and artistic director of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival. Under his guidance, the Festival is now regarded as a premier cultural event in the European Union. In its formative years, the Festival was frequented by opera legend Maria Callas and conductor Dimitri Mitropoulos.

The discussion's moderator is the author of Apollo's Angels: A History of Ballet and also serves as a New Republic dance critic. The event will be held at BAM Fisher Hillman Studio, located at 321 Ashland Place in Brooklyn, New York. More information can be found at: www.BAM.org and (718) 636-4100.
