Venizelos Confirms Greece Will Enlarge Presence in Cyprus

During Greek Deputy Prime Minister Evangelos Venizelos' current trip to Cyprus, he stated that Greece's participation on the island will enlarge, concerning Eastern Mediterranean global missions.

Venizelos spoke to journalists after concluding a meeting with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades in the capital. The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Greece traveled to the nation to attend a trilateral meeting with the Foreign Ministers of both Egypt and Cyprus.

Venizelos referenced UN and NATO missions in the larger Mediterranean region that Greece is associated with, including the UN mission in Lebanon, "Active Endeavor", according to Parikiaki. The PASOK leader commented that Greece holds a permanent naval fleet in the area, that relative parties need to contemplate.

The Greek leader stated that Greece's involvement in the region are both diplomatic and political and strive to preserve peace and stability. In his comments, Venizelos claimed that hydrocarbon extraction are an added motivation to reach a solution for Cyprus, regarding both territories. Venizelos informed the press that during his meeting with the Cypriot President, they discussed upcoming travels, EEZ challenges, and illegal acts by Turkey.
