7.5 Earthquake Shakes Southern Mexico

Southern Mexico's Guerrero state was hit with a 7.5-magnitude earthquake this morning, as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake struck the Pacific Coast in between Acapulco and Zijuatanejo. Mexican citizens regularly flock to the two resort towns during Holy Week, with hotels and beaches fully inhabited.

The earthquake occurred at 9:27 a.m. local time. The Mexican National Seismological Service documented its epicenter's depth at 30 miles, its measuring at 7.0, and its location approximately 19 miles northwest of Tecpan. One Mexico City building was impaired, located 165 miles away from the earthquake.
