Oscar Awards: Lanthimos' "Poor Things" gets four oscars
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The 96th Academy Awards turned into a great night for Poor Things and Giorgos Lanthimos!
The Greek director's film won four Oscars: Best Makeup / Hairstyling, Best Set Design, Best Costumes and of course Best Actress for Emma Stone's performance as Bella Baxter!
Big winner of the night is "Oppenheimer", which leaves Los Angeles with 7 statuettes. These are: Oscar for Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), Oscar for Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.), Oscar for Editing, Oscar for Cinematography, Oscar for Music and Oscar for Direction and of course the Oscar for Best Picture.
With few references to the war raging in Gaza, but also few political references (with the exception of the winning reasons for the Documentary Oscar and the International Film Oscar, as well as Jimmy Kimmel's "barb" against Donald Trump), the evening went without surprises, in smooth (and maybe a little boring) rhythms.
The most touching moment of the evening was - again this year - the tribute paid to those artists who passed away in the past year, with Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo enchanting the audience of the "Dolby Theater" with their voices..
